Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of the Dubai Municipality said we stand by our commitment to protect the environment whilst continuing to drive the robust economic and cohesive social dynamics that underpin Dubai's success as one of the top rated cities in the world. We hope to bring together our peers and colleagues from around the region and the world to continue the important discussions that began last year, to ensure continuous improvement and to come together around a priority that unites us all - the need and desire for sustainable cities for our future.

Mohamed Al Noori, Director of the Environmental Center for Arab Towns and a number of industry leaders from across the private and public sectors. Last year, over 300 delegates joined the Future Cities conference and over 20,000 visitors walked through the halls.

As well as an exhibition which showcases leading solutions and technologies, the three day event will encompass a conference with discussions on sustainable urban development, renewable energy, effective water and waste management strategies.'

Future Cities provides the region's premier forum uniting public and private sector stakeholders in active discussion to tackle the tremendous challenges urban leaders face in implementing and maintaining sustainable urban growth in challenging economic times. Through high-profile presentations, high-level discussion panels and a forward-looking exhibition, Future Cities will help delegates, speakers and visitors find solutions and long term strategies for ensuring social, economic and environmental development of tomorrow's global cities. It also serves to reinforce Dubai's position as a leading global city and showcase the significant achievements that have been made.

'Sustainable policies and the need for environmental considerations in urban development have been established as clear priorities for cities and towns in the Middle East region and globally. Dubai has once again assumed a leadership role in this arena by hosting discussions, launching initiatives and gathering influential stakeholders together to stimulate action in tackling the challenges faced in delivering sustainable urban solutions,' said Rohan Marwaha, Managing Director at Informa.

"This year's event will see government-led delegations from Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar and many others in attendance. The fantastic response at today's event shows that there is huge support for this initiative, and we are proud to be part of the team spearheading the efforts, along with our colleagues at Dubai Municipality, ECAT and the ATO. Our partnership with these esteemed organizations and our commitment to Future Cities is for the long-term and we expect to see great things as we continue to grow in 2012," Rohan said.
