Arab Health 2011 Awards unveils shortlist

The shortlist of nominations for the 2011 Arab Health Innovation & Achievement Awards has been announced. The Arab Health Awards celebrate and reward outstanding institutions and individual achievements that have contributed to the growth and development of the Middle East healthcare industry.

Top performers from the healthcare industry will be announced on 25 January 2011, during the 36th Arab Health Exhibition & Congress which will take place at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Winners will receive their awards at a Gala Dinner attended by over 700 of the region's leading healthcare professionals, senior government officials and special VIP industry guests.

IIR Middle East, the organisers of Arab Health 2011, worked with a respected panel of judges from around the world, including Dr Joel Nobel, founder and president emeritus, ECRI Institute, Malek El Husseini, business development director, GE Healthcare Middle East, Fadi El-Jardali, international accreditation consultant, Accreditation Canada, Brian Johnston, chief executive, Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and Ashraf Ismail, managing director, Middle East International Office, Joint Commission International.

Brian Johnston from Australian Council on Healthcare Standards,“The quality of all nominations continues to improve over previous years.” He continued, “This reflects the increasing importance of the awards program to the development of high quality health services across the region. Most notable has been the number of nominations that have focused on the benefits to patients, in terms of quality and safety, as the major outcome from the quality initiatives undertaken.”

The panel examined nominations submitted by healthcare facilities and professionals from around the Middle East region to build the shortlist for eight award categories:

Established 36 years ago, the Arab Health Exhibition and Congress provides a platform for the world’s leading manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors to meet the medical and scientific community in the Middle East and beyond.

The Arab Health Exhibition and Congress will feature more than 2700 exhibiting companies from 70 countries and takes place on 24-27 January 2011. Participant numbers are expected to exceed the 65,000 mark which would represent the largest gathering of healthcare professionals anywhere outside Europe.
