Industry partners with Informa on launch of Intermodal Asia

China’s leading container association, the CCIA (China Container Industry Association), and Informa Exhibitions have formed a cooperation partnership on the launch of Intermodal Asia 2014. The event will also benefit from the full support of the world’s largest container manufacturer, CIMC (China International Marine Containers), who is the chairman member company of the China Container Industry Association (CCIA).

China Container Industry Association is located in Beijing and was established in 1993 with the approval from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and is a nationwide social organisation with legal person qualification.

Informa is the world’s largest event organiser, with offices in over 35 different countries and with a proven history in the sector. The company owns the highly successful Intermodal Europe event as well as a number of well-regarded industry publications, including Containerisation International and Lloyd’s List.

“Informa is pleased to announce this strategic partnership with China’s leading container association. The partnership between Informa and the CCIA, supported by CIMC, ensures that Intermodal Asia will be an industry-led event.  In this way it will be both an international and a regional event, delivering both local and international exhibitors and visitors” says Intermodal Asia Event Director Sophie Ahmed. “An Intermodal Asia event has been in demand from a lot of people for a number of years and we are delighted to be delivering an event that will open up countless opportunities for participating companies and visitors.”

CCIA’s members include CIMC, Singamas, CXIC and many more of the world’s largest container manufacturing and suppliers of material and components companies. The association is a hugely influential body within the container industry, with backing from the Chinese government.

“As the exclusive partner of Intermodal Asia, we are delighted to be so heavily involved in the launch of this leading industry event” says Mr Mai Bo Liang of the CCIA. “The full support of our membership and other industry contacts will ensure the event’s success. We are delighted to be working with Informa on this successful and highly anticipated launch and we look forward to welcoming the industry to Intermodal Asia next year in April 2014.”

The partnership also benefits from the backing of the world’s largest container manufacturer CIMC. They will be fully supporting the show as its lead sponsor. Manufacturing over 50% of the world’s containers, CIMC is one of the leading forces in the global container supply chain.
Taking place from 1-3 April 2014 at the Shanghai World Expo Centre, Intermodal Asia will be a large scale event, featuring a free-to-attend exhibition running alongside a high level conference, with sessions held in both Mandarin and English. The conference sessions will take place on the exhibition floor, making them fully integrated into the overall event. Intermodal Asia will attract senior level visitors from China, plus a number of Asian countries, as well as from all over the world. It will be the first time such a large scale event has run in China – making it an essential visit for container logistics and intermodal professionals.

Extensive research was carried out before the show’s launch, and many of the industry’s biggest names have put their names to support it. The decision to run the event in Shanghai means Intermodal Asia will be perfectly positioned at the heart of the container industry – where it will be anchored for the next 3 years.

“Prospective exhibitors and visitors in the shipping industry have indicated that Intermodal Asia is a necessity for the region” explains Ahmed. “The Intermodal Europe event is well known, established and respected throughout the industry and Intermodal Asia will leverage this strong industry support and be a focal point for those interested in the Asian container supply chain.”

Intermodal Asia will be the sister event to the successful Intermodal Europe, which has established itself as a must-attend industry event since it was launched 37 years ago.

Exhibitors and visitors to Intermodal Asia will include organisations that supply, use, trade or purchase containers and container suppliers of material and components.  As well as container equipment and freight handling equipment, rail freight services, liner services, 3PLs, reefer and cold chain management companies and intermodal ports and terminals.

“The support already shown for Intermodal Asia has been over whelming, so with the full support of the CCIA and CIMC it will be truly be an industry led event. We have lots of plans for the show; including the addition of some excellent visitor attractions, leading speakers and top exhibitors, all of which we will announce very shortly” says Ahmed.
