We want to be innovative in the development of our product content; in our formats of delivery; in our pricing models to ensure we keep our offering fresh and relevant for our customers. We want to be the sort of company that encourages and develops the ideas of our staff, a business that embraces change.
Non-bureaucratic - We have to have proper controls in place in a business like this but we do not want that requirement to encourage a form-filling bureaucracy to flourish. We want to be fast moving, decisive, able to act quickly when opportunity presents and nimble enough to be a revered force in the market.
For profit. Unapologetically, we are here to make money. But sustainably. We are here for the long term.
We want to be open in our communication. I can think of no question about the business which we should not be prepared to answer (other than exceptionally if answering it brought us into breach of market-sensitivity rules of the Stock Exchange).
We want the company to be a rewarding one to work for. Yes financially, but in terms of personal and career development too. We also want the business to be a fun place to work. Not just because we are nice but because we think if it is an enjoyable place to work we keep better people and do better.
We have got to be very market-focused. If we are not we will soon fall behind. The world is changing fast and the old mentality of just produce and sell is no longer enough. We have to think more, ask more, anticipate more and do more to meet our customers’ needs than was the case even three years ago.
Last, and this is no platitude, we are about Quality. Our key differentiation is the quality of the information we deliver.
