Ovum Triumphs In Analyst Awards

London, 26 August 2009 – David Mitchell, Senior Vice President of IT Research at Ovum, has been named one of the top 3 Analysts of the Year by The Institute of Industry Analyst Relations (IIAR) in their 2009 global survey.

The annual survey, undertaken by the IIAR and based on responses from 137 analyst relations professionals, also ranks Mitchell the runner up for EMEA Analyst of the Year and one of the Most Important Analysts in three separate categories - services, enterprise and software. Mitchell was praised for his “unique intelligence and insight".

Commenting on his award, David Mitchell said: “Being recognised by the IIAR as one of the top analysts globally is extremely gratifying because it represents the views of an important group of our customers.”

“At a time when vendors have to evaluate carefully where they should invest their limited funds, it is refreshing to see best-of-class analysts receiving recognition for the value they deliver. Now, more than ever before, analysts have to prove their tangible worth and those that provide independence, integrity, flexibility and deep industry knowledge of their specific areas are being recognised as true partners for vendors and IT buyers,” noted Jonny Bentwood, Head of Analyst Relations and Strategy, Edelman.

Ovum was also named one of the top four global analyst firms. “Together these awards highlight the value of Ovum both as a global business leader in the competitive ICT (Information, Communication and Technology) industry and as a highly effective people business,” said Mark Meek, Managing Director for Ovum and CEO of Datamonitor.
